A Magical Evening

Be The Change MN, a local non-profit focused on investing in the youth in our community, is proud to mentor a passionate group of high school students to organize an event for K-5 students. We are excited to curate an amazing and unforgettable experience that celebrates joy, family connection, play and togetherness as a school community for the Nellie Stone Johnson Community School (NSJ) in the heart of North Minneapolis.

Our theme, “Winter Wonderland”, included decorations, food and games reflecting the wonder of the beautiful winter in Minnesota and the warmth of family and friends at this time of year. Guests receive a hearty, sit down meal, in an elegant setting, prepared by celebrated local chefs and served by the high school volunteers.

Many of these 210 families continually face challenges with food insecurity, financial instability and social unrest. This is our opportunity to come together as a community to provide one incredible night for these talented students, with the potential to make a long lasting impact on them and their families while actively participating and leading others to ‘be the change’. We believe it is extremely important to support these families during the two week holiday break by providing resources, food and support until they return back to school.
